Questions

What is the basic Korean skincare routine?

Morning: cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. Night: an oil cleanser to remove makeup, then the same cleanser, toner, serum and a slightly richer moisturizer, with no sunscreen. Choose each product for your skin type.

Do I need all 10 steps?

No. Four to six steps cover most skin. Essences, ampoules, sheet masks and eye creams are optional extras; exfoliants are for 2–3 times a week, not every day.

What is double cleansing?

At night, an oil cleanser first (massaged onto dry skin for 30–60 seconds, then emulsified with a little water and rinsed) to lift makeup, then a water-based cleanser. If you wore no makeup, you can skip the oil step.

What is the best Korean routine for oily skin with large pores?

A low-pH gel cleanser, a light watery toner, a niacinamide or BHA serum, an oil-free gel moisturizer and daily sunscreen, with exfoliation 2–3 times a week. Moisturizer still matters: skin that feels stripped often makes more oil.
